ANCIENT CIVILIZATION

The Indus Valley Civilization, 3300 BC - 1700 BC, was an ancient civilization thriving along the lower Indus river and the Ghagaar- Hakra river in what is now Pakistan and Gujrat (western India). Among other names for this civilization is the Harappan Civilization, in reference to its first excavated city of Harappa. In India it is known as the Indus-Sarasvati Civilization because most of the more than 1000 sites of this civilization were discovered at the banks of the Sarasvati River. According to the Indo-Aryan migration hypothesis, Gujarat and Pakistan were the first settlements for Indo-Aryans.
