The land of the "Thousand and one nights...".

As central Asia opens up and travelers look forward to new destinations, the adventures of the bygone days can still be experienced in cities like Samarkand, Bokhara and Khiva.

The beautiful Capital of Tamerlane, Samarkand excelled as a centre of Islamic studies. Bokhara and Khiva treasure their old magnificent religious buildings.

As we cross over the Khunjerab Pass(4730m), hundreds of ibexes can be seen roaming the scenic landscape. We can also visit the traditional honeymoon favourite resort, Shangri-la.

In the 13th century, Marco Polo set off on a series of wonderful journeys. Today we retrace the images of these trails of the past. Our journey starts at Islamabad and heads onto the Karakoram Highway and brushes through the scenic Hunza Valley up to the high Khunjerab Pass meeting at Tashurghan to continue for the classical cities of the Grand Silk Road.
